Fundraiser & Janaza Update for ElKady Family

We all believe that each one of us will experience end to our life, that Allah SWT has given us.

"Every soul shall have a taste of death, then to us you will be ultimately returned."

(Surat Al Ankaboot 29:57)

It is heartbreaking to hear about an incident such as the one that happened a few days ago.  The Muslim community in Calgary is still shocked and devastated with the tragic traffic accident of an Egyptian Muslim family near Pincher Creek; leading to the death of the parents and one daughter. The other two survivors are still in critical condition and when they recover In shaa Allah, will need long term support. Our hearts go out to the family and friends over this untimely and dreadful loss of life. May Allah bless the deceased and provide recovery to the injured.

Today, after Jumuah prayers, the Muslim Council of Calgary (MCC) organized an emergency fundraising effort, across its Citywide Islamic Centers through hundreds of volunteers and raised $64,732.90 to help establish a fund to look after the medium and long term needs of the survivors. Their immediate needs are being met by the hospital and close friends.

The MCC, in collaboration with Calgary Egyptian Association has also organized another fundraising event at Akram Jomaa Center on Sunday, 01 Jan 2017 right after Isha prayers (7:00pm) for this cause. The Calgary Muslim Community is encouraged to make effort to participate.  Calgarians can also donate online for this cause on MCC's official website under: Donation>DomesticProjects>ProjectCategory-WeCareCanada

The Janaza prayers of the deceased members of the ElKady family - father, mother and daughter – will take place at the SW Masjid tomorrow, Sunday, 1st January 2017 after Dhuhr prayers at 1pm followed by the burial at the Muslim Cemetery in Cochrane.

JazakAllah Khair for your support to this worthy cause. This is our joint responsibility as a cohesive Muslim community.

On behalf of the Muslims Council of Calgary & its citywide organizations.
