OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE EGYPT ATTACK VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES
“Whoever kills a person [unjustly]…it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind.” [Qur’an, 5:32]
We at the Muslim Council of Calgary are deeply saddened and disturbed by this horrendous act of terrorism on innocent mosque goers. According to CNN, at least 235 people were killed and another 109 injured in an attack Friday on a mosque in Egypt's North Sinai region.
Our hearts go out to all those martyred worshipers inside the mosque, in a place of worship, a place that should represent peace and sanctuary. We are shocked by this terrible crime, and heartbroken at the thought of the families and children who lost loved ones in this violent attack.
Such acts of barbarism and hatred in the name of God are absolutely unacceptable. May God give the people of Egypt strength to bear this tragedy and find and punish the evil that has caused this.
