More Than 1300 Calgarian Muslims Have Been Helped So Far!

WeCare Canada Food & Hamper Drive Update

WE CARE CANADA is an affiliate organization of the Muslim Council of Calgary. It has devoted its energy
to passionately advocating for the hungry, needy and marginalized members of the Muslim community in Calgary.

On May 20th, WeCare was joined by the supportive hands of Enjoin Good volunteers to make and deliver Hampers for 230 needy Muslim families in Calgary. Almost $15,000 of donation was available for these hampers ($62/hamper.) The contents of the hamper were enough to feed a family of four for one to two weeks. This would not have been possible without the support of over 90 volunteers over the two week-ends who helped buy, pack and deliver hampers.

Our second hamper drive took place in the town of Brooks on 11 June 2017. This drive supported the Muslims and Syrian Refugees living in the town of Brooks. More than 85 hampers were distributed. This event was supported by around 50 local Muslim & interfaith volunteers.

In total, MCC/We-Care served close to 320 families (more than 1300 Muslims) in and around Calgary during Ramadan, with this food and Hamper Drive. We are proud to have 140 volunteers; who moved more than 20,000 pounds of food to make this mega project a successful one. The event was supported by the Council of local Brooks Mosque (Mr Morad Trabelsi) and Mr Ahmed Kassem; President Global Village foundation, Brooks. Mr Mudhir Abu Baker represented Muslim Council of Calgary MCC while Dr Adnan Mansoor led the WeCare Operation.

The Muslim community in Calgary is applauded for their generous support of $20,000.00 for this event. MCC and WeCare believe that “FOOD is a necessity; which is continuous and NOT ONE TIME,” so we appeal to our community to please donate their Zakat, Saddaqua and other charity for the good cause of these deserving Muslim families.
